· Biography

The Amelio Trio was founded in 2012 by violinist Johanna Schubert, cellist Merle Geißler and pianist Philipp Kirchner in Frankfurt am Main. A busy concert schedule has already taken them to the Alte Oper Frankfurt, to the Klangbrücken Festival in Hanover and to other European countries. The young ensemble has won prizes at various international competitions. In March 2022, for example, it was the winner of the Internationaler Schumann-Kammermusikpreis. In the summer of 2022, they won second prize at the Gianni Bergamo Chamber Music Competition in Lugano. As soloists, the members can look back on concerts with the hr-Sinfonieorchester or the Göttinger Sinfonieorchester. They have also received scholarships from the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes, the Jürgen-PontoStiftung, the Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung and Yehudi Menuhin - Live Music Now. The three musicians study at the conservatories in Hannover and Cologne and are currently taught by Oliver Wille and Stefan Heinemeyer after working with Angelika Merkle for many years. At the 72. International ARD Music Competition the Amelio Trio won the second prize.
