· Biography

José Trigo was born in Portugal in 1997 into a family of musicians and began learning double bass at the age of eleven with Alexandre Samardjiev. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Mannheim, Germany, where he studied with Petru Iuga and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 2019. He also completed master classes with Janne Saksala, Ödön Rácz, Stanislav Anischenko, Gunars Upatnieks, Philipp Stubenrauch and Franco Petracchi. José Trigo gained orchestral experience with the European Union Youth Orchestra, the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and the WDR Sinfonieorchester. He has been a member of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks since April 2019, and also recently graduated with a master's degree from the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg under Dorin Marc. José Trigo was awarded the third prize at the 72. International ARD Music Competiton.
